MLB Hotchkiss

MLB_Hotchkiss an improved version of the Hotchkiss Factory map which was released in May 2003. There was a major issue with the bomb, a main objective in the map since it could be armed without loading the explosives on it and the last part of the map was too much defense-biased...

Created in 1871, the Hotchkiss company was designed from the very start to produce weaponry. In 1939, it had extended it's market to machine guns, tank & cannon shells but also cars & military vehicles. This map takes place around the Saint-Denis Hotchkiss Factory, near Paris, where intensive production of several weapons had started to prepare for the german invasion.

When making this map, we decided to alter the scenario a little and use the Hotchkiss Factory for a secret missile prototype that the French would be setting up in order to knock the german BlitzKrieg strategy out. It all takes place when Axis invade France, and are arriving near the Hotchkiss factory which has already been severrely bombed by their Luftwaffe. The Axis assault squad mission is to infiltrate the Factory and retrieve a prototype of the missile before allies destroy the few models still remaining.

http://www.gd-experience.eu/img/user/image/cust_maps/et/mlb_hotchkiss/mlb_hotchkiss_crain.jpg http://www.gd-experience.eu/img/user/image/cust_maps/et/mlb_hotchkiss/mlb_hotchkiss_backyard.jpg

Axis spawn in a building which faces the first factory storage area. Allies have locked the main ways in but the bombs have breached entire walls open leaving a few ways to sneak in...

The first way in is through a highly placed breach in a side building. Axis need to set up a scaffolding to get in there. The second, more simple, is the main entrance door which resquires to steal clothes from an enemy and get in as a covert ops in disguise. Another solution is to reach the controls of the crain overlooking the entire yard. That crain can be rotated to smash a gate open. Then, there's a few very hard ways in using electric cables which hang across the courtyard and, finally, a huge building side was ripped open in a last place leaving an additional path to infiltrate.
Once Axis have found a few ways in, their main objective is to dynamite the factory main gate. This gate lies just below a blown piece of the storage roof and wasn't annihilated by the air forces. Once destroyed, it provides a new spawn for Axis and Allies are pushed back a little...
The next part of the map takes place around an upper terrasse which is overlooked by the factory main wall. Since the wall is made of a stout & sturdy build, Axis have to set up some big charges to blow it up. A set of sewers also provide a back road to reach the objective without being seen.
Fortunately, Allies have an office lower down with a special type of explosive. Only 2 of those dynamites linked to a timer will be sufficient to breach the wall. The following screenshots show the special explosive and the place where it has to be loaded. Once loaded, a lever enables a countdown of 2 minutes. The countdown can be interrupted and resumed but never resets, which means that if a player interrupts it at 1 second from the end, when it will be reactivated, the bomb will blow after 1 second!!!!

Once the wall is ripped open, Axis respawn just behind it whereas Allies are moved back to the missile storage. A long corridor leads there with an MG-42 gun nest to cover it. Allies spawn nearby and have a dominent position since their spawn is located higher up.
In this last part, Axis have to destroy the missile launcher in order to disable all Axis defense...

MLB Carnage

MLB_Carnage is a remake of the "Return to carnage canyon" map originally created by Marko. Lowlife completely remade the terrain, the terrain shaders and the sea whereas bob added a B-17 bomber to the map. Marko worked on structure only in order to change the map layout (not a maze like the original version used to be).

http://www.gd-experience.eu/img/user/image/cust_maps/et/mlb_carnage/carnage_canyon_entrance.jpg http://www.gd-experience.eu/img/user/image/cust_maps/et/mlb_carnage/carnage_trenches.jpg

Just like the previous versions, allies attack on this map. They spawn on landing crafts and have to make their way up the canyon to the 'No Man's Land' area. Lowlife added a back path in the
mountains to avoid the canyon congestions with artillery and airstrikes, provding allies with a secured back path that takes them above the main canyon bunkers. The trenches flag has been
moved to a side bunker, avoiding the huge spawn killing which was a major issue in the previous versions of the map. After having captured the trenches, allies will have to head to the axis
base where a radio beacon has to be set up. Once constructed, the B-17 Bob made flies up the canyon, drops a bomb and breaches the bay doors to the underground basement of the map.

http://www.gd-experience.eu/img/user/image/cust_maps/et/mlb_carnage/carnage_upper_base.jpg http://www.gd-experience.eu/img/user/image/cust_maps/et/mlb_carnage/carnage_warehouse.jpg http://www.gd-experience.eu/img/user/image/cust_maps/et/mlb_carnage/carnage_radio_building.jpg

From that moment, allies gain a permanent spawn in the basement and axis forces are pushed back to the final objective, a sea battery. The battery access is protected by a massive gate which is locked with a magnetic seal. The only way to get past it is to destroy the power generator located in the basement. The battery only lies a few feet away....

MLB Beach

MLB_Beach is an upgrade of Marko's [FuN] Beach map. Lowlife ripped the entire terrain and remade it from scratch, adding a nice sandy beach texture in addition to smooth sea water with an opacity gradient. He also focused on altering structures to gain FPS on the beach landing section. Marko fixed a few bugs and focused on improving the gameplay on the last section of the map. Bob fixed the scripting bugs, mainly the command post one that was a flaw in fun beach final....

http://www.gd-experience.eu/img/user/image/cust_maps/et/mlb_beach/beach_landing.jpg

MLB beach is a map designed for large scale carnage over the D Day Theme. Allies spawn on the left part of the map above in the landing crafts and have to fight their way up the beach. They have 2 buker doors that they can blast to enter the Axis beach base. Once in the enemy base, they can capture a forward spawn flag which will let them spawn closer the the first primry objective: a ventilation power generator. Breaching it will stop the fans from rotating and let the whole team infiltrate into the Axis back base.

http://www.gd-experience.eu/img/user/image/cust_maps/et/mlb_beach/beach_lower_bunkers.jpg http://www.gd-experience.eu/img/user/image/cust_maps/et/mlb_beach/beach_upper_bunkers.jpg http://www.gd-experience.eu/img/user/image/cust_maps/et/mlb_beach/beach_upper_bunkers_2.jpg
http://www.gd-experience.eu/img/user/image/cust_maps/et/mlb_beach/beach_ventilation_room.jpg

The last section of the map is a fight to destroy a radar located behind the beach defenses. Allies have several ways of getting up there and can capture a forward spawn area to increase their offensive power...

MLB D Day

MLB D Day is a remake of the "D Day" map originally created by Marko for RTCW. Lowlife completely remade the terrain shaders and the sea whereas bob worked on the scripting a adding the voices to the script. Marko worked on structure and retextured the map.

http://www.gd-experience.eu/img/user/image/cust_maps/et/mlb_d_day/d_day00_beach_landing.jpg http://www.gd-experience.eu/img/user/image/cust_maps/et/mlb_d_day/d_day00_beach_side.jpg

Just like the previous versions, allies attack on this map. They spawn on landing crafts and have to make their way up the beach. They have 3 different ways into the enemy base :

a side door that leads to a bunker with a forward spawn flag inside it
a main gate located below an mg42 gun nest
a damaged wall that can be breached with dynamite

http://www.gd-experience.eu/img/user/image/cust_maps/et/mlb_d_day/d_day01.jpg http://www.gd-experience.eu/img/user/image/cust_maps/et/mlb_d_day/d_day02.jpg http://www.gd-experience.eu/img/user/image/cust_maps/et/mlb_d_day/d_day03.jpg http://www.gd-experience.eu/img/user/image/cust_maps/et/mlb_d_day/d_day04.jpg http://www.gd-experience.eu/img/user/image/cust_maps/et/mlb_d_day/d_day05.jpg http://www.gd-experience.eu/img/user/image/cust_maps/et/mlb_d_day/d_day06.jpg

The final objective is hidden deep down in the bunker complex. Allies have to get hold of a set of war documents that are located in the underground complex war room

http://www.gd-experience.eu/img/user/image/cust_maps/et/mlb_d_day/d_day07.jpg http://www.gd-experience.eu/img/user/image/cust_maps/et/mlb_d_day/d_day08.jpg

MLB Bayrarid

MLB Bayraid is an upgrade of Lowlife's original map known as Bayraid. Axis attack on this map and the main objective is to push allies back to the sea front and hold them there in order to set
up a radio chain composed of 2 command posts, a generator and an amplifier. The complete radio chain then has to be maintained 30 seconds to coordinate the bombing of the area.

MLB Temple & Daybreak secret rooms

A couple of secret rooms have remained in the final releases of MLB maps. These rooms can still be found on MLB Temple and MLB Daybreak. This wasn't done on purpose and cause quite a lot of conflicts in game when a player jeopardized the game for everybody by casting constant panzer bombardments or increase respawn, field ops recharge and engineer recharge times for his team.

Many patches have been released to fix the map scripts and disable the teleporter. Anyhow, here's how the good old maps used to work :

MLB Temple : there is a radio tent close to the allied spawn which has this board nearby

Activate trigger #1 one time
Activate trigger #2 two times
Activate trigger #3 three times

http://www.gd-experience.eu/img/user/image/cust_maps/et/mlb_temple/secret_mlb_temple.jpg

MLB Daybreak : you have to find a board similar to the one in MLB Temple but this time it's located in the last map section (Rocket Base)

Activate trigger #1 three times
Activate trigger #2 one time
Activate trigger #3 two times

MLB Starbase

Allies are preparing an ion cannon which aims at annihilating Axis forces and end the war. Axis board the Allied Starbase with a battleship with only one objective: take the starbase off orbit.
http://www.gd-experience.eu/img/user/image/cust_maps/et/mlb_starbase/mlb_starbase_splash_screen.jpg http://www.gd-experience.eu/img/user/image/cust_maps/et/mlb_starbase/mlb_starbase_command_map.jpg
In many ways this map follows much of the normal ET map procedure. Axis must breach the two entrances and establish a forward spawn position from which they can begin the assault to destroy the main power reactor. Allies must defend the reactor at all costs which is no easy task as the designers have not yet built any buildable defences until the first beta maps have been fully tested in public. This means that Allies have as yet no killing fields into which to funnel and delay the Axis spearhead and coupled with the ability of the enemy to teleport into different sections of the map makes defending the objective quite difficult to achieve as you never know from where the enemy might appear from next.
http://www.gd-experience.eu/img/user/image/cust_maps/et/mlb_starbase/mlb_starbase_entrance.jpg http://www.gd-experience.eu/img/user/image/cust_maps/et/mlb_starbase/mlb_starbase_power_room.jpg http://www.gd-experience.eu/img/user/image/cust_maps/et/mlb_starbase/mlb_starbase_generator.jpg

The map includes many special features:

Low gravity meaning nice long distance jumps
Teleporters to move instantly from one point to another
Quake 3 style jump pads
Energy Barriers (prevent spawn killing and limit some sections of the starbase to the defending team)
Sci-fi style ammo chargers.

MLB Daybreak

MLB_Daybreak is an update of the Daybreak map which had a major bug inside it... A path through the mountains allowed players to get across half of the map without completing any objectives. It's fixed in this version and a few details have been changed to improve the map a little more...

http://www.gd-experience.eu/img/user/image/cust_maps/et/mlb_daybreak/daybreak_village_ruins.jpg http://www.gd-experience.eu/img/user/image/cust_maps/et/mlb_daybreak/daybreak_village_ruins_2.jpg http://www.gd-experience.eu/img/user/image/cust_maps/et/mlb_daybreak/daybreak_train_bridge.jpg

Daybreak is an Axis-attacking map designed for Wolfenstein Enemy Territory. It's very close to the game engine limitations since we got very close to the entity limit. The first section of the map is focused around a tank which axis have to escort to a defense wall in order to breach it. Axis then attack the allied main base, using the railway path to infiltrate the fortress.

http://www.gd-experience.eu/img/user/image/cust_maps/et/mlb_daybreak/daybreak_base_entrance.jpg http://www.gd-experience.eu/img/user/image/cust_maps/et/mlb_daybreak/daybreak_base_entrance_2.jpg

Withing the fortress, axis will fight their way across barricades and around a dam, to breach the rocket base entrance. They will then have to rob a keycard to open an armory and take 5 explosives to the Allied rocket before they can start the bomb countdown.

http://www.gd-experience.eu/img/user/image/cust_maps/et/mlb_daybreak/daybreak_rocket_room.jpg

Reaching the end of the countdown before the time limit will lead axis to victory...

MLB Temple

MLB Temple is an upgrade of my Desert Temple map. Lowlife ripped the entire terrain and remade it from scratch while Marko & Bob worked on improving the tank and bridge system...

Allies spawn at a small little camp with tents on the top-left side of the map. There's a damaged tank close to that area. It has to be repaired and escorted over to the temple which is on the bottom-left part of the map. They'll have to build a bridge to help the tank get across the canyon.

The tank bridge is now built according to the fueldump scheme... It's a 2 stage construction system. Also, when it's fully built, a dynamite won't destroy it completely... This means players can still get across it even if the tank is blocked on the other side
http://www.gd-experience.eu/img/user/image/cust_maps/et/mlb_temple/MLB-Temple01.jpg http://www.gd-experience.eu/img/user/image/cust_maps/et/mlb_temple/MLB-Temple02.jpg

Allies then get past a desert outpost with a tank barrier, go round a fort to finally get to the temple and blow the main entrance door.

http://www.gd-experience.eu/img/user/image/cust_maps/et/mlb_temple/MLB-Temple03.jpg http://www.gd-experience.eu/img/user/image/cust_maps/et/mlb_temple/MLB-Temple04.jpg http://www.gd-experience.eu/img/user/image/cust_maps/et/mlb_temple/MLB-Temple05.jpg http://www.gd-experience.eu/img/user/image/cust_maps/et/mlb_temple/MLB-Temple06.jpg http://www.gd-experience.eu/img/user/image/cust_maps/et/mlb_temple/MLB-Temple07.jpg http://www.gd-experience.eu/img/user/image/cust_maps/et/mlb_temple/MLB-Temple08.jpg

All teams will then spawn inside the temple and action will take place over there. Allies will have to reach the sarcofage room, breach the sarcofage steal the gold it contains. They then have to return it to the tank...

MLB Egypt

MLB Egypt is a new map of the MLB map pack. It was started from scratch in May by Marko, who made a set of temple with a pyramid nearby. Lowlife then decided to add terrain and build on, leading to what the map it now.
http://www.gd-experience.eu/img/user/image/cust_maps/et/mlb_egypt/egypt_boat.jpg http://www.gd-experience.eu/img/user/image/cust_maps/et/mlb_egypt/egypt_ruins.jpg http://www.gd-experience.eu/img/user/image/cust_maps/et/mlb_egypt/egypt_lock_gate.jpg

Axis attack on this map. They spawn in a wooden hut built on the river of a canyon. They have a boat to repair and escort along the river, going along ruins and borken pieces of architecture.
In addition to this, they can use an underground tunnel that goes all along the river bed, providng an alternate sheltered access to the objectives... Along one of the river bends, allies have a damaged flood gate to hold. Axis have to escort the boat to the flood gate, repair the generator that drives the gates and toggle the levers to open the gates, let the boat in, flood the gate then open the upper exit Once the flood gate has been passed by the boat, Axis get a new spawn in that area. The boat then starts the last section up the river, going by a town in ruins before reaching the temple entrance. It finally stops, rotates it's gun and breaches the temple main entrance...
http://www.gd-experience.eu/img/user/image/cust_maps/et/mlb_egypt/egypt_pyramid_1.jpg http://www.gd-experience.eu/img/user/image/cust_maps/et/mlb_egypt/egypt_pyramid_2.jpg

The boat is now no longer necessary... Axis will now have to access the main pyramid entrance. They have another door to dynamite to get there before having to get hold of a box of shells, build a gun, load the shells on the gun and breach the pyramid entrance... The next step takes place indoors.

http://www.gd-experience.eu/img/user/image/cust_maps/et/mlb_egypt/egypt_temple_side.jpg http://www.gd-experience.eu/img/user/image/cust_maps/et/mlb_egypt/egypt_temple_outdoor.jpg http://www.gd-experience.eu/img/user/image/cust_maps/et/mlb_egypt/egypt_temple_indoor.jpg

While allies attempt to hold the door leading to the sarcophage room, axis fight their way in the pyramid tunnels, using every path they can to reach the objective The path to the objective room is large and short, meaning axis forces easily invade the area. On the other hand, after having stolen the gold from the sarcophage room, they have to return it to the woodden barracks where they initially spawned at. Being unable to walk all the way back to the boat and down the river again, they have to breach the allied barricades to escape directly through the ruins protruding over the canyon...
