View Full Version : Is there something in everyone's config but mine that allows this to happen?

I'm in a firefight with another player, window to window so there isn't much moving around. I get off the first shots no problem, but he starts hitting me back and I cannot hit him because of impact recoil. Strange that it doesn't seem to affect ANYONE I shot at as much as it affects me.

So my question is.. WTF? Is this a config thing you guys alter?

and no matter how much I've practiced with keeping the scope down on the sniper rifle, I cannot bring it down fast enough for the zip-zip-zip I've seen practically everyone else can do with it. What's up with that? (It's not the mouse... I've got an optic and a decent surface to use it on.)

Ok lets start with your first problem.
I am not sure about this though!
Bob_up,roll,pitch,and all other bob_'s need to be 0 to get no movement up.

#all bobs??
Yes,all of them.
Open your console type /cg_bob then while the sentence is up press TAB
you now see all the bob's you need to set to 0.
#what does it do??
Movement doesn't effect your steady aim anymore.
Possible also the recoil gotten from getting shot at.
#Is this illegal??
No, it's totally legit and most people use it.
I don't cause i think using a custom config = cheating. but that is
just my opinion.
#Will this improve my shooting??
For sure!

Sniping!
Now to second thing: Be Aware that this is ILLEGAL! but unfortunately untraceable by punkbuster.

People can add allot of things to their config.
If the server / mod allows it, you can shoot 16 bullets from you akimbo luger/colt in 1 second!

How??
Config!
How do they do it??
In you config you can add certain actions, but you can also
add multiple actions in 1 bind..

Example 1.
Bind key "+shoot;-shoot;+shoot;-shoot; wait 1"
I left out important thing above so you cannot try it!

But if completed right, this bind now shoots 4 times in 1 second.

Now the sniper:
This is similar to the example above but this time instead of shooting more you get :lookdown.

Example 2.
Bind key "shoot; -lookdown;"
Again, This bind doesn't work for your safety.
If you seriously want it you can probably find it on a hack site along with a nice set of viruses.

So now with this completed version of the bind above you click once, then you automatically look down.

I hope i have helped you out with my post.
Don't EVER go look for it.
And use the knowledge to spot Recoil Scripters wisely.

Yeah meow has a alot of good info in his post. Make sure you have all the /cg_bobs turned off. the two most important ones are /cg_bobpitch 0 and /cg_bobdraw 0
those two turned off should ( I might be wrong, there are a bunch of cg_bob commands) completely get rid of your crosshair bobbling, and should help your aim.

anyway, when you are being shot at in a firefght it will cause your crosshair to move from recoil, but this won't change where your bullets go. Your bullets will stay on the same path they would have been if you hadn't been shot. So just keep trying to place your crosshair on your opponenets head while in a firefght and don't worry about the recoil too much, there isn't anything you can do.

Also, if you get headshots it causes alot more recoil on the opponent, making it harder for them to see you/adjust to your shot.

as for the sniping, i personally whip my mouse down extremely fast. I've talked to other people who raise their vertical sensitivity which is m_pitch the default is 0.022 but you could try raising it to like 0.03 or something, that would definitely help, or juts raise your entire sensitivity in general when you snipe.

with everything, it just takes alot of practice.

Hey Doc,
Same boat here.
Tweaking the bobs don't work either.
Feel ya about having the drop on someone and they still kill you after unloading several shots into them first.

The only thing you can really do is to use evasive techniques to minimize the damage received. Consistency in your shot is very important.

Any bit of lag is detrimental if it cannot be managed.

Also the more you are scoped into the game to more you move upwards if being hit.

Scoped into game??
cg_fov, the field of view allows you to "zoom in" abit to get easier headshots.
of course now when you receive a hit the recoil is greater.

How does it look??
cg_fov 90

This is the Standard look.
First time you play it looks like this..

cg_fov 120
It looks like you are allot farther away from things, but you see allot more in the edges of the screen then usual.
Also moving forwards, it looks like you go allot faster.
The cost??
The chance of hitting someones head is a bit lower.
Unless you are used to cg_fov 120.

Give it a try ;),

Understood, I have my mousewheel set to both (90 and 120).

Another question I have is this:
How is it other players can move left and right so fast to avoid hits and be so accurate while I try the same technique and it is nowhere near as fast and my accuracy goes into the twilight zone?

I have used adren, +speed on caps lock and never get the speed I see others do.

IIRC, it has a lot to do with not moving your cursor too much, but you aim in a "circle of death" method.

Although, if you're trying to be random, you just have to get a "feel" for the gun while you're moving. If you see where your bullets are heading while you're moving, you should be able to get a feel of how they would react while under adren... or at least try walking/crouching/prone to reduce spread.

Caps lock = walking silently
Shift key = run (adren increases it a bit)
